Mission Statement

Work Opportunity Center, Inc. The mission of Work Opportunity Center, Inc. (WOC, Inc.) is to assist individuals with developmental disabilities obtain employment in the community which promotes social inclusion.

As an agency we value individual rights; normalization; individual risk taking; empowerment; individualized planning; advocacy; quality services; personal growth through experiences; employment, quality work habits and individual program satisfaction.

Business Solutions

WOC, Inc. has become a well recognized name in the business community by providing high quality services for business while simultaneously providing employment for program participants.


Work Opportunity Center Executive Director, Robert MacDonald WOC, Inc. is a member of the West of the River Chamber of Commerce which provides the agency an opportunity to network with businesses throughout the Greater Springfield Area. Executive Director Robert MacDonald is a member of the West Springfield Rotary Club which provides additional networking opportunities.

WOC, Inc. is also a member of Ready, Set, Hire - a trade association of provider agencies in Hampden County that focuses on employment for individuals with developmental disabilities and creates awareness in the business community of the benefits of hiring individuals with developmental disabilities.

WOC, Inc. Staff

WOC, Inc. currently employs 23 staff who have a combined total of over 275 years supporting individuals with disabilities. Work Opportunity Center Management Team

WOC, Inc. also has a history of working with people of diverse cultural backgrounds. We have bi-lingual staff and staff proficient in American Sign Language to ensure the needs of individuals and their families are met.


Our modern facility is air conditioned and sprinklered. Our facility is on one floor and is handicapped accessible and ADA compliant. Automated doors are available at the employee entrance of the building for easier access.

Funding Sources

We work primarily with the Department of Development Services (formerly the Department of Mental Retardation), Department of Transitional Assistance, Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission, local school systems and insurance companies. Since 1969, WOC, Inc. has generated revenue by providing high-quality services for business.
